It is an irony that when the Left Front West Bengal government has taken the bold step of inviting private enterprise and investment to promote tourism in the Sunderbans, there should be plain loot of precious timber in the forest administered by Sunderbans Development Board. There has been no development in the region, rich in wildlife and natural resources that are ideal for the promotion of tourism and for products like honey which would have helped to the region's economy.
