Swine flu alert across farms

Ranchi, May 4: A swine flu alert has been sounded in the state.
Taking precautionary measures to prevent outbreak, the administration today asked all civil surgeons and medical colleges to be on guard. On the other hand, Birsa Agriculture University (BAU), Ranchi, sent out SOS to more than 101 pig farmers in the state, directing them to get their animals vaccinated immediately to prevent any outbreak.
The state has appointed Pradeep Baskey, the deputy director of Integrated Child Development Scheme, as the state nodal officer for the flu.
Jitendra Kumar, the director in chief of medical services in Jharkhand, along with Baskey, today attended a meeting on swine flu convened by the director-general of health services of India. After the meeting, Kumar said preparations to tackle possible outbreak of swine flu in the state have been done on the order of the central government.
