The government is working on various models to provide a tax advantage to consumers on energy-efficient electrical appliances. The government may introduce a differential tax structure under which appliances certified as more energy efficient would attract lower tax. This means if you buy a five-star rated refrigerator, you are likely to pay less tax than if you buy a four or a three-star one. The idea is to manage energy demand by promoting the development and use of clean technologies among people.
