The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), which is implementing the country's ozone-depleting substances (ODS) phase-out programme, is arming border enforcement agencies with hi-tech identifiers imported from Germany. These identifiers, once installed at border customs points, will trigger an alarm if a gas cylinder containing the harmful CFC (chlorofluoro carbon) is brought within its vicinity.
