Teesta hydel project gets green light

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Thursday approved the Rs 1,061.38-crore Teesta low-dam hydel project stage-IV to supply power to West Bengal. It will have a generating capacity of 160 MW from its four plants of 40 MW each. The project will be completed in the next 48 months. Speaking to the media after the CCEA meeting, an official spokesperson said that the project would be built by state-owned National Hydro-electric Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs 1,061.38 crores at the March 2005 price-level. This will include interest during construction (IDC) component and financing cost of Rs 69.71 per cent.
