HYDERABAD: Water will be released from Telugu Ganga project in Andhra Pradesh to Chennai from mid-August. The exact date of release of water will be finalised after a joint meeting of officials from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to be held soon. Pending finalisation of the dates, the government here on Thursday decided to open the head-sluices of the Telugu Ganga Canal at the Kandaleru project in Nellore district on July 14 to supply water to Tirupati on a priority. A cross-bund will be laid across the canal at its 90th kilometre mark to create sufficient depth in the canal to facilitate drawal of water by pumpsets.
