The story of Bhopal 1984 is one of ignored warnings, inadequate precautions and absolute indifference to human lives. It was a disaster foretold THE THREAT POSED by Union Carbide's pesticide process in Bhopal was known long before the night of the gas leak. Between 1981 and 1984, smaller leaks killed or hospitalised workers and residents on three separate occasions. Rajkumar Keswani, a Bhopal journalist, wrote a series of articles about the risks in 1982. That same year, US experts sent by Carbide found 61 potential hazards, 30 of them major.
