Nearly 400 fully grown eucalyptus trees on a private plot have been chopped down in the Bakhauli village of northwest Delhi over the last fortnight. The owner of the plot is said to be missing and most of the wood has been carted away. The operation is suspected to have been masterminded by a school teacher in Mukhmailpur village, who doubles-up as a timber merchant.
