The repeated thefts of uranium samples belonging to the Department of Atomic Energy based in Meghalaya has raised grave concerns that the material may reach the hands of terrorists. Most of the sample Uranium from Domisiat and Wakhaji in West Khasi Hills goes to DoAE for analysis. The DoAE labs have a substantial reserve of semi-processed Uranium or "yellow cake''. Strangely, this semi-processed Uranium has routinely slipped into the wrong hands over the past few years from the labs of DoAE.
