The Paharpur Business Centre is planning to celebrate Earth Day on April 22 by asking residents to water the 2,000-odd trees in the Nehru Place Greens Park, as an opportunity to show care and concern for the environment. In January this year, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had wished to take over the seven acre Greens Park and transform it into a parking lot, night bazaars and underground parking lot. The DDA planned to cut off the trees and remove all the vegetation in the area for their project. Presently, the maintenance and upkeep of the park is done by DDA. Due to the intervention of the Delhi High Court and other politicians in the Capital, the axing of the trees was prevented.
