KALPETTA: The eco-tourism centre at Tholpetty near Mananthavady, a growing tourism destination under the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, will be reopened for tourists on Wednesday.
The centre had been closed for tourists since June 7, 2010 on an order of the Chief Wildlife Warden. An eco-development committee meeting at Tholpetty on Monday decided to impose various restrictions on the entry of private vehicles inside the sanctuary. Only 60 vehicles will be allowed a day during the summer. The vehicles should keep a distance of half a kilometre between them inside the forest, where the speed limit is 25 kmph, the sanctuary officials said. The entry time is 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
