The Ceylon Workers' Congress (CWC) leader Arumugam Thondaman has warned that if the UNF government goes ahead with the proposed Kotmale project, (Sri Lanka) the hill country Tamils would launch an armed struggle like the one in the North and East. He said that as Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe has asked him to take up the matter with the visiting Japanese peace envoy Yasushi Akashi. The two men will meet tomorrow. The proposed Kotmale hydropower project is to be aided by the Japanese government.
