Animal rights groups from across the globe are up in arms against the State Government over its "callous" attitude to the death of thousands of Olive Ridley sea tutles along the Orissa coast. Conservationists have also expressed concern over the unusual delay in the annual mass nesting of the turtles along the State's shores. In a preliminary survey conducted between the last week of January and the first week of February, the Wildlife Society of Orissa claimed to have found over 5,000 dead turtles along the Puri-Konark shore and the mouths of the Devi and Rushikulya rivers.
