Three trucks stopped dumping waste in Loutolim

Three trucks were stopped by locals of Loutolim after they were caught red-handed while dumping industrial waste at Devoti in Loutolim village on Thursday noon. The Maina Curtorim police later seized the three vehicles and arrested the drivers, besides the owner of the trucks under Section 34 of the Indian Police Act. Locals said the incident occured around 3.30 pm when the trucks began off-loading the waste, consisting carbon papers and other waste, at an open space. They were stopped by a local lady, who later alerted members of the SEZ Virodhi Manch, who rushed to the spot and stopped further dumping of the waste material. The police were later called to the scene, who seized the three trucks before effecting the arrest of the drivers. Further investigations are on.
