State (Assam) forest minister Nagen Sharma has ordered an inquiry into the allegations of timber smuggling by Army personnel despite the Supreme Court ban on felling of trees in the entire Northeast. Sharma said: "I have directed the forest department officials to carry out an investigation and submit their report at the earliest."
