The Tamil Nadu Governemnt has defended its action in conveying to the Japanese funding agency its objection to extending assistance to the Bangalore drinking water scheme, as, it was consistent with its policy followed on the Cauvery water issue. The stand taken by Tamil nadu was that Karnataka should abide by the interim award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal on release of 205 tmcft for the Bangalore scheme.
