The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board(TNEB) has approached the Anna University to undertake a study on desilting the Pillur hydro-electric dam. Located in the Nilgiris district, the dam is one of the Kundah group of reservoirs, having a capacity of two 50-MW units.Siltation is so much in the dam that it has reduced the capacity.
