The decision taken by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to award the contract for building a hydel power station on the Pykara high hill region ignoring the lowest bidder has been challenged in the Madras High Court. In a public interest writ petition, Mr. R. Krishnaswamy of Chennai, a former Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Industry, has pleaded for a declaration that the award of contract was null and void, arbitrary, contrary to law, ultra vires and unenforceable.
