Tope promises to pass eco-friendly buildings proposals at the earliest

Mumbai, August 20 Lauding the BMC's efforts to promote eco-friendly housing in the city, State Urban Development minister Rajendra Tope on Wednesday announced that he would pass all the green building proposals sent by the civic administration at the earliest. Addressing a seminar attended by BMC Chief Engineer (Development Planning) Ashok Shintre, IMC Housing Committee Chairman Niranjan Hiranandani, Director General of Science and Technology Park-Pune Dr Rajendra Jagdale and several builders and architects, Tope said, "In a state developing at such a fast pace, green buildings have become a necessity. I am personally assuring that action will be taken to pass eco-friendly constructions in the state and the work will get done at the earliest.' He added, "Considering that Maharashtra, and Mumbai, is highly industrialized, environment protection issues becomes a priority here. Urbanisation and pollution go hand-in-hand.
