The Karnataka government's reaffirmation to eradicate child labour by 2007 is indeed a welcome aspiration. Given that the state alone has around 11 lakh children under the age of 14 working in various sectors, some of which fall under the hazardous category, as also many employed in the domestic sector which is not covered in the child labour prohibition act, this may prove a tough job...editorial
