Nature has endowed Sikkim with rich varieties of flora and fauna, which coupled with the concerted efforts of the State Government, made tourism the backbone of the economy of Sikkim. The State is the proud winner of the Tourism Ministry award as the best performing state among the north eastern States for the last four consecutive years, which speaks volumes of the efforts of the Government of Sikkim for attracting tourists to the State.
