`Tourism sector has contributed much to state`s development`

Kerala Tourism has emerged as state's core competency sector by contributing significantly towards the development of the state, according to Economic Review 2004 released by the State Planning Board. Earnings in the sector have increased 39 percent to Rs 983.37 crore in 2003 from Rs 705.67 crore in 2002, the review said. Foreign and domestic tourist arrivals too have recorded a significant rise.
