Toyota Motor Corp. and Volkswagen AG have formed a partnership with regard to fuel-efficient direct-injection engines, The Yomiuri Shimbun learned Tuesday. Under the deal, Toyota will license to Volkswagen all its patents concerning direct-injection gasoline engines. Starting next year, all gasoline-powered Volkswagens will have direct-injection engines, sources close to the carmakers said.
