DH News Service, Bangarpet: Taluk Panchayat meeting held here on Wednesday approved Rs 28.79 cr action plan to take up asset creation under National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme in 37 gram panchayat limits. The meeting, presided over by Taluk Panchayat president Shankarappa, deliberated on utilisation of the grants released to the local body during 207-08. It came out that out of Rs 33.35 cr grant, a sum of Rs 30.27 cr has been utilised. Taluk Panchayat extension officer Prasad informed that priortiy has been given to works related to water conservation, afforestation and road improvement under National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme. He explained that 60 pc of the funds must be reserved for wages.
