Transport ministry transfers adl highway projects to NHAI

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will now handle Rs 1 lakh crore worth highway projects. The road transport and highways ministry has decided to transfer additional national highway projects stretching 10,000 km to NHAI. Sources said orders to that effect were passed earlier this week though a decision had been taken last week. The government's programme for four/six laning of the additional kilometres at an approximate cost of Rs 40,000 crore was announced in the Budget. They are in addition to Rs 60,000-crore National Highway Development Project .
