Even as the state observed World Environment Day and vowed to mitigate air pollution, transport operators prepared to thwart the phasing out of old passenger vehicles and resolved to ply their polluting vehicles in the city's streets. The State Government of West Bengal announced its intention of not allowing taxis of 15 years or older to ply in the city.
