It seems that there is no need to forest destruction in Assam. Department has launched a massive operation to unearth a racket of smuggling of tree barks to Kolkata and some other parts of the country from the state. The Forest department has achieved its first success when a team led by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Kamrup West Division Partha Sarathi Das, with the help of the Boko police, caught Ram Mahanta, an influential contractor and recovered 42 bags of valuable tree barks from his residence at Boka.
