As scientists sounded alarms about global warming at an international forum in Argentina this week, local research scientists announced that the solution may be as simple as planting trees. Planting trees on marginal agricultural land could trap significant amounts of carbon dioxide, a so-called greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming, according to findings by a team of researchers from CSU-Monterey Bay and NASA Ames Research Center in Menlo Park.
