In Madhya Pradesh there is evidence to indicate that trees were being felled till recently in a certain forest area near the state capital in contravention of Supreme Court directives. In a large number of cases the instructions of the apex Court regarding Government of India (GOI) clearance for a working plan of the State Government too were being followed merely as a formality.
