Despite the constitution of a separate Act to prevent cutting of trees, twin city authorities like the Secunderabad Cantonment Board and Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad have failed to prevent the practice. Several trees have been uprooted and cut, particularly on the main roads in West and East Marredpally, Andhra Pradesh. At least 10 trees were uprooted last week and several others are in the process of being cut in SCB areas.
