A large number of trees were felled to construct a marketing yard at Kangani forest, situated just 3 km from Mandi, the district headquarters. The forest from this area was cleared without taking permission from Central Government although this fact was known to the Forest Department, but instead of taking action against the culprits, the department is ignoring the felling of trees.
