Trees in danger on highway to Gurgaon

Development always comes with a price tag. Sure it does. Well over 6,000 trees are to be pulled down shortly for widening a 10 km long road in South Delhi as part of an ambitious project to convert the Delhi-Gurgaon section of National Highway-8 into multiple lanes. According to senior officials of the National Highway Authority of India the trees are being cut down to widen the 27.7 km Delhi-Gurgaon section of NH-8. In the highway beginning at Rao Tula Ram Mag near Vasant Vihar will be of six lanes and the rest would be eight lanes.
