Tribal encroachers have grabbed 22,500 ha of Sonitpur forests

Tribal encroachers have grabbed 22,500 hectares of forest land out of 66,067.77 hectares of various reserve forests in Sonitpur district, said Mohan Chandra Malakar , Chief Conservator of Forest (territorial) Assam. Talking to the media persons yesterday, Mr. Malakar said Sonitpur district over the past few years have registered the highest number of encroachers in the reserve forest followed by Kokrajhar and Golaghat district of Assam.
