Raite, a remote Maharashtrian village, shot into limelight in 1998 when some tribal students of its Government Ashram School trekked 66 km for two days and one night to the tribal development commissionerate in Nashik to air their grievances about the inaccessibility of the village. Finally, four years later, the authorities have woken up to make Raite accessible throughout the year, by building three bridges at the cost of about Rs 1 crore.
