The short-range surface-to-air Trishul missile has been successfully test-fired from Orissa, defence sources said. The test was significant as the Defence Ministry had indicated in March it intended to shelve the development of the missile after it was plagued by delays and problems with its guidance systems. The missile, which has a range of nine kilometre and can carry a 15 kg warhead, was fired from the range at Chandipur in Balesore district, 230 km from Bhubaneshwar, the defence sources said.
