The truckers strike is finally taking a heavy toll on the trade and industry. Several segments of the industry complained that they have been hit directly or indirectly as they are unable to transport finished goods or raw materials. India's largest carmaker Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) has said that "it might be forced to stop vehicle production due to a halt in material supplies if the ongoing nationwide truckers' strike is prolonged.' "There will be immediate impact of the strike within a day or two. Certainly, we cannot last beyond a couple of days. If we are not able to get some critical components, we can't assemble the car as we live on very thin inventory of three days,' MUL's MDJagdish Khattar said.
