TB awareness programs have been conducted in the islands of Addu atoll to coincide with the World Tuberculosis Day. The World Tuberculosis Day is 24th of March. The events at the program were conducted under the theme "I will also help stop the spread of TB' and staff from the atoll's Regional Hospitals and Health Centres participated in disseminating information about the disease. They also distributed leaflets with information on the disease to the public. The teams also went to areas where public gathered and gave advice and information about the disease to those who were there. Young children who had finished school were also targeted during the program. The Deputy Director of Hithadhoo Regional Hospital said that the status of Addu atoll as far as TB was concerned was very good. He said that there was only person who was undergoing treatment for TB in the atoll.
