Bokaro, Feb. 22: Sudesh Mahto today laid the foundation stones for two road projects and promised Rs 50 crore for renovating a decades-old barrage in Chandankyari, claiming that Ajsu had done more for the backward block in 26 months than any other party did in five decades. The two road projects — Jodhadih More to Chandankyari worth Rs 14.59 crore and from Mamar Kudar to Dubey Kant estimated at over Rs 6.50 crore — will together comprise over 50km. Addressing a crowd of over 5,000, the deputy chief minister who is also in charge of water resources, said the government would spend Rs 50 crore on the Gavai barrage to help farmers irrigate their land and be able to target multi-cropping. The Ajsu president also announced that 18 new bridges would be constructed, which along with the road projects, would be worth over Rs 350 crore, in Chandankyari.
