Two dozen villages flooded by Ganga water

With River Ganga and Soti flowing above the danger mark in Hastinapur Khadar area, a flood-like situation has gripped more than one and a half dozen villages. On Wednesday evening, water from the Ganga flooded into the villages following reported discharge of 1.5 lakh cusecs of water into the Ganga.More than a dozen villages including Hadipur Goodi, Jalalpur, Jora, Kheri Kalan, Sirgepur and Manoharpur had already been affected by flood. Thousands of acres of farming land of these villagers is also flooded, resulting in severe damage to crops. According to the irrigation department. the Ganga is flowing 1.5 metre above the danger mark at all places.Mawana and the adjoining link roads are drowned in up to three feet deep water.
