Two months of the six-months extension which the Supreme Court gave for commercial vehicles in Delhi to change over to compressed natural gas (CNG) are almost over. There has been little progress as far as conversion of diesel buses into CNG is concerned.Sources in the Delhi government say that Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit is likely to hold a press conference on June 1 to apprise Delhiites of the situation. In fact, Transport Minister Parvez Hashmi, in an informal interaction with media-persons, hinted that meeting the September 30 deadline was going to be "difficult" as there was an acute shortage of CNG cylinders in the country.
