At last the Olive Ridley Turtles have found their saviour in Dr Robert Sutccliff, who had made his life mission to save this endangered species on the Orissa coastline, which is considered the largest rookery of these turtles. The rookeries of the turtles include the world famous Gahirmatha beach, and the Devi and Rushikulya river mouths. Much to the discomfort of environmentalists and naturalists, these rookeries have fallen prey to man-made threats posing question marks on the survival of these endangered species.
