UK says to cut tax on smaller cars

Britain announced a big tax cut for driversof small cars but owners of big gas-guzzlers will be charged more. In his annual budget, Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown said annual vehicle excise duty (VED) would be cut by 55 pounds to 100 pounds for cars with engines up to 1,100 cc from June 1 this year. Tax on all bigger cars and light goods vehicles will rise by five pounds from the same date.
