Kolkata: To encourage the Centre to change its procurement policy in favour of buying energy efficient goods, the British High Commission has begun supporting a project on developing policy guidelines in this regard.
Participating in the launch of an electronic platform for buying green products, ahead of Earth Day, British Deputy High Commissioner Sanjay Wadhwani said this was an existing project where the High Commission was working with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency to support buying energy efficient products by public sector units. The policy of buying goods with lowest cost translates into buying the least efficient product.
