The British Government has agreed to fund the forest sector reforms project in Himachal. It will provide about Rs 60 crore, though the Department for International Development India as a assistance for the project over the next four years. A government spokesman said the British department was funding the project because of the good performance of state in implementing the forestry project from 1994 to 2001 in Kulu and Mandi districts under which participatory forest management was introduced.
