Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharati on Monday assured that the Centre would do everything for completion of the Polavaram project on time after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met her and took up the issue of increasing the funding for the project. Speaking to reporters at Delhi after Mr. Naidu met her, she said the Centre would extend support to the State for completing the project on time. Mr. Naidu said he took up the issue of less allocation to the project and urged the Centre to increase the funding for fast tracking it. Describing Polavaram as a central project, he said cost relating to land acquisition and R & R package would be fully borne by the Centre. He said all efforts were being made to get the Special Category status for AP.
