Amidst much public enthusiasm, the Rongmahal water supply scheme was launched in 2004 at a cost of Rs 1.50 crores (approx) in a public meeting held beside the Bihlongini Hills for providing potable water to nearly a lakh of villagers under Rudreswar panchayat area for which water was drawn out from the confluence of the rivers, Bornadi and Brahmaputra, located beneath the holy Manikarneswar hills. The construction works of the reservoir and allied covers were accordingly carried out atop the Bihlongini hills and the approach route was also completed after some months.
