The sarpanch of Kalva in Orvakal Mandal of Kurnool district, Mrs. Fathima Bi will receive an award from the U.N. Secretary General, Mr. Kofi Annan, at New York next month. This was formally announced by the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Dr. Brenda G. MsSweeney, during the regional launch of the Human Development Report 1998 in Hyderabad.
