With rains all around in the middle of a graduating summer, doctors fear the rise of a host of diseases, especially those associated with mosquito breeding.Doctors in the Capital apprehend more dengue and malaria cases this year due to high breeding of mosquitoes. Cases of common cold, fever, headache, body ache and rashes are already on a high. "People should take care of the fact that the rainy water do not get stagnated. It may lead to mosquito breeding further causing spread of diseases like dengue and malaria. Moisture in the atmosphere due to rain and low temperature is ideal conditions for high mosquito breeding," said NK Yadav, health officer, Municipal Corporation of Delhi. He said that while cases of dengue are on a high, two cases of malaria have also been reported in the Capital this month. Head of the Department of Community Medicine at All India Institute of Medicine Sciences (AIIMS) Dr Bir Singh also said that people should take proper care and should not expose themselves to the intermittent showers. "Diseases like Malaria, Chikungunya, and dengue are on a high in such weather. The civic body and even masses should get ready to check mosquito breeding as soon as possible," he said. He said that one should not eat roadside food. A lot of people are also suffering from headache and fever. "The season's erratic weather has really taken a toll on me. With the sudden change in temperature, I have become more vulnerable to common cold, which at the end of the day leaves me with fever and headache," said Sumit Kumar, a student at Sri Venkateshwara College, Delhi University. Last year, high index of aedes mosquito breeding was found in many schools, office and commercial complexes.
