University of Georgia scientists have created eight healthy clones of a single cow, the school announced on Tuesday. Scientists placed cloned embryos in more than 100 cows, and eight came to term. The first was born in February, and the youngest was born in April. Clones are created when the genetic material from a single cell is injected into an egg cell that has had its own genes removed. The resulting baby would be like an twin born years later.
