Paper manufacturing units in western Uttar Pradesh have urged the Central government for a prompt decision on pulp wood plantations as it takes about eight to ten years before a tree cam be harvested for making pulp. For sustained development of the paper and pulp industry, manufacturers have suggested that pulp wood should come from afforestation through industrial plantations and agro-forestry rather than deforestation of natural forests.
